I grew up in a rainy post-industrial town in eastern France. The only colors on the streets were the graffiti left behind the generation that came before me. It was only when I went to Paris for the first time that I discovered street-art in its diverse and current forms through the works of Miss.Tic, Blek le Rat, Invader and other anonymous artists (see reference).
Today, I am witnessing Munich's unique VERBOTEN signs on the streets and I am unsure if they constitute a form of street-art. They seem to be strategically scattered across the city and often come in creative variations with bright colors, expressive underlining, and excessive punctuation!!! Their sheer abundance and the apparent effort put into displaying them suggests they serve more than just regulatory purposes.
If these signs should be considered as a form of street-art, then they should be celebrated and rightfully attributed to the citizens of Munich. I propose a 3cm sticker that points them out as references to the public discourse:
